This is a "living document" in which I will publish my suggestions to fix everything. If you have any suggestions or criticisms, please comment and they will be taken into consideration. For the inaugural, I’m focusing on the manifold flaws with the way Presidents are appointed- er, elected, that is- in this country, but this page is open to suggestions on how to fix any problem.
Here are my suggestions to fix everything:
Most Basic and Effective solution to Everything
Reduce/limit the growth of the human population on Earth. It may take several generations to adjust to a shrinking population (human systems tend to rely on growing population, but natural systems are straining toward the breaking point) without extreme shock, but we should start taking steps today. I think the world would be a much finer place if there were far, far, far fewer humans on it.

Abolish the two-party system. George Washington thought it was a bad idea, and I agree. This may be accomplished by either abolishing both parties, or else creating numerous additional parties. Either would be an improvement.
Just say no to dynasties. If your parent, sibling, or spouse has been a POTUS, then you don’t get to. Blame them.
Remove all private money from politics. These dollars don’t buy intelligence, integrity, experience, wisdom, or justice. What do they buy? Hate-filled nonsensical advertising which merely serves to inflame the rift between the Two Parties. See above. Also makes the "winner" beholden to folks who don’t have the best interests of the country at heart.
Reform the debate system. No pre-vetted questions. If the moderator determines that a candidate "spins" or "sidesteps" a question, then they will be asked the same question on their next turn, ad infinitum. Answer or look like a fool. It’s okay to say, "I don’t know."
Subject all candidates to a standardized multiple-choice and free-response test which is designed to yield insight into general knowledge and personality traits. Publish their answers. If you think this is a bad idea, then why do we use them to measure students and prospective employees?
Our proclivity for unjustified wars
Stop allowing children to enlist in the US military. 18 year olds are not, in my opinion, psychologically ready for war. We inculcate our children with praise for martial exploits in absurd, unrealistic media, then as soon as they finish their mandatory minimum education we invite them to sign a one-sided legal contract to become "a hero". Any soldier can tell you that after the emotional goodbye from friends and family, they will never be treated like a hero by the US government again. We believe, apparently, that an all-volunteer military is a good thing, but our enlisted recruits are largely 18 - 20 years old. If we increased the minimum age to, say, 26 then we might have a more difficult time finding volunteers for unjustifiable wars. A 30 year old with a wife and kids will need a very good reason to go to war, and he'd still make a fine soldier at that age.
If you're worried about depriving HS grads of an immediate military career, that can easily be solved by making select non-combat roles available to them.
